How Stepsize AI Saved SenseHawk 50+ hours per week

The Customer

SenseHawk is a SaaS tool for the renewables and construction industry. Saideep is the CTO at SenseHawk and manages a front-end team of 25 developers.

The Challenge

Saideep wanted his team to collaborate better and make himself available to unblock issues asap. Therefore he arranged a 1-hour meeting twice a week with his 25 engineers.

• These meetings were time-consuming and inefficient, bringing 25 engineers together on a call resulted in a lot of waiting and irrelevant information. Collectively, the team spent more than 50 working hours per week in these meetings, that’s as much as having another full-time team member.
• The biweekly cadence was a step forward, but it also meant that issues and opportunities would go unnoticed for two days, before Saideep and the team were able to solve them. 
• Saideep tried to replace the meeting with a daily stand-up tool. However, the information in these manual template reports was not detailed enough, so the meetings continued.

The Stepsize Solution

Saideep implemented Stepsize AI, a tool that automatically generates and distributes key updates based on his team's activity, including key results, blockers and opportunities.

• Stepsize AI caught several blockers that the team otherwise would have missed. One of these mishaps was that engineers wouldn’t realise that product designs were ready to be built. With Stepsize, this information was proactively surfaced in the summary, allowing the engineers to get started right away and ship faster.
• The update also included source links to relevant items like pull requests, so Saideep was able to directly jump to the ones that needed attention, rather than manually reviewing all of them.
• Saideep was also able to ask Stepsize questions about the updates and get answers immediately, eliminating the need to bother team members and allowing them to remain in flow.

Saideep was able to validate the effectiveness of Stepsize in just a few days and realized that the time spent on the weekly meetings was redundant. As a result, he decided to cancel the meetings, saving himself several hours per week and the team 50+ working hours per week. The tool is now an integral part of Saideep's management and collaboration process.
